Reiki is a calm and relaxing treatment to promote the body’s regenerative self-healing ability, enhance wellbeing and balance mind, body and spirit. Treatment is used for a range of things including: relaxation, post surgery recovery, personal growth, muscle aches & pains, developing wisdom & compassion, headaches/ migraines, heal relationships at home or work, improved sleep, processing grief, easing digestion, calm before stressful situations, strengthen other therapies, problem solving, safe travels, compliment manifestation, stress relief, enhance immune system, increase stamina, regulate emotion, gentle passing on, releasing toxins, identifying authentic self.

Yes it can. However, your body will use the transferred energy where this is most needed and may seek the root cause of your ailment which may be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual.

Yes. The Reiki Council is the lead advisory body in the UK. There are two Regulatory Bodies (GRCCT & CNHC) that set professional standards of practice and publish Codes of Ethics for Reiki Practitioners.

Yes there are, however all forms of Reiki can be traced back to the teachings of Mikao Usui and all Reiki Practitioners will have Reiki Lineage connecting back to Usui. I practice Usui Reiki and can provide a copy of my Reiki Lineage on request.

Absolutely. Reiki Practitioners are bound to comply with the Data Protection Act (DPA) and the Reiki Code of Ethics. Your data will be stored securely in line with the DPA and anything you share with me will only be used in relation to your Reiki treatments. There are some instances where I would be legally bound to report to relevant authorities and in these instances I will always let you know what my obligations are and what action I will take. For reassurance, these instances are: to protect public safety if I suspect a notifiable/ reportable disease as specified by the government, if there is serious risk of suicide, intention to harm a child or vulnerable adult, any terrorist activity.

No, you stay fully clothed for Reiki, except for your shoes and it might be helpful to remove any jewellry that may get in the way of treatment. Come to your appointment in something comfy.

Reiki is always conducted respectfully and your comfort is important. Treatment is usually hands-on and no-where inappropriate however if you are uncomfortable with touch anywhere, Reiki can be conducted a few inches away from your body.

You may feel a range of sensations including heat, warmth, tingling, etc and you may see colours or images or have memories or emotions gently rise to the surface. Reiki is very gentle and adjusts to your present capacity.

Some people feel nothing at all and many fall asleep. Sometimes, the effects of Reiki come out in days or weeks following treatment. Reiki works whether you feel the physical impact or not as it meets your highest good.

There are no contra-indications to Reiki. Some people are energised after treatment however most feel extreme relaxation. However treatment may make you feel drowsy, the intensity may give you a headache, you may experience physical release such as a mild cold, spot breakouts, etc as the healing progresses and toxins flush out your body. You may experience emotions arise. I am here to help you however you react to Reiki.

You should drink more water than normal to help flush your system and it is advisable to avoid alcohol and tobacco for 24 hours post treatment. It’s a good idea to plan quiet time after treatment rather than rushing around as whether you feel it or not, your body will need rest. The most important thing you should do after a Reiki treatment is to be kind to yourself. We can discuss personalised self-care after your treatment.

You have a choice: you can lie down on the treatment bed or be seated in a chair. It’s important you are comfortable during treatment.

Reiki is not a cure and can not replace traditional medical care but it can help your body expidite the healing process and can help you address your fears and prepare emotionally to seek medical advice.

Reiki should not replace traditional addiction treatment but can be a beneficial during recovery to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, promote detox, reduce anxiety triggers and address emotional and spiritual needs fostering self-compassion and resiliance.

Animals are naturally receptive and respond well to Reiki to reduce stress, promote relaxation and emotional well-being in a non-invasive and gentle way. Reiki Practitioners may not diagnose animals or replace veterinary care.

Reiki is perfectly suitable for children, with parental consent, however the Reiki Practitioner will need a signed statement from the parent stating that you are aware that lawfully, a medical doctor needs to be consulted concerning the benefit of your child.

It is possible, and effective, to send Reiki over a distance, however the consent of the recipient is required (unless they are too ill to provide this).

Yes. Reiki can be sent to memories and into the past including into childhood.

Reiki can help with feelings of fear and insecurity and can also be sent into future events, conflict situations and relationship difficulties to benefit the best outcome for all.

Yes. Reiki can clear negative energies in a home or workspace and replace them with positive intentions, helping to create the environment you are looking to promote in that space i.e. peace, creativity, safety. etc.

Yes. Reiki works for the recipients highest good on emotional, physical, mental and spiritual levels and whilst it will not cure the physical body at this point, it can ease the transition at end of life. Reiki can also reduce pain and anxiety in palliative care.
